Dan has recorded and performed in various musical genres, including opening acts for Latin-jazz superstar Poncho Sanchez and reggae-great, Burning Spear. He is the band leader for the Austin-based Latin jazz group Señor Gato and the creator of the AquaDrums performance, which he has toured throughout the nation as part of the 2007 Bacardi B-Live tour. He also performs with the Austin flamenco group Sonido Sol.

Dan has made a life-long commitment to the art of Afro-Cuban and Caribbean music, his journey theatrical and dancing as well as accompanying DJs in various musical styles ranging from salsa to rock; house to reggaeton; calypso to samba.
