David Aiken credits his success with the fact that he loves what he does. This love and joy for making people laugh transcends culture and language. Hey, the fact that he can do his show entirely in English, French and Japanese and dabbles in Spanish and Korean also helps.
Even though this guy studied theatre in university and has performed literally thousands of shows all over the globe, he still gets the biggest kick when the audience throws him a curve ball. Like the time he was performing his Evel Knievel parody The Flaming Leap of Death on his mini-motor scooter and a guy drove into the center of his audience on a very large, very loud Harley Davidson to contest who had the cooler motorcycle.
The ability to roll with the punches and leave them rolling in the aisles time and time again may explain why The Checkerboard Guy is in such high demand wherever producers are interested in making people laugh!

Sol de Fort Worth Ballet Folklórico was founded by two folklórico instructors, Román Ramírez & Freddy Cantú, to offer children from their community an avenue to gain a sense of pride, self-esteem, and self-confidence, encouraging them to work within the community as catalysts for positive changes. We want our dancers to know that with hard work and perseverance, they can become who they aspire to be.
The members of Sol de Fort Worth Ballet Folklórico have united their love and passion of Mexican folkloric art to maintain the heritage and history of México. Through dance, they tell the history of the people who embraced a life filled with diversity in nationality, language, dress, religion, and culture. The music and dance of México are representative of people worldwide who, during various times in history, made México their home. The dancers take great pride in continuing this legacy of past and future generations.
Sol de Fort Worth Ballet Folklórico is actively involved in the community. Students participate in the Cowntown Great American Cleanup; cleaning parks in our neighborhood & the Cowtown Marathon. During the holiday season our students perform for local nursing homes and Cook’s Children’s Hospital. Each student makes homemade Christmas cards and deliver them after the performance. Our group also collected 600+ lbs of canned goods to donate to the Tarrant County Food Bank.
Sol de Fort Worth Ballet Folklórico actively seeks opportunities to support our community and help out in any way that we can.

World Expos in Osaka, Japan, Seville, Spain and Tae Jon, Korea, North American representative on the inaugural World Street Festival tour of Australia, invitations from producers around the world, a performance for the Prime Minister of Canada, The Checkerboard Guy’s career has spanned more than two decades and four continents.
